Live Project- Filming and Editing

On Tuesday 24th February, we went out filming all our locations for the North East promo for the Johnston Press. We managed to capture all the locations we set out to film and stayed pretty well on schedule with only a few small delays here and there. We took two AVC cameras and the gimble with the black magic and we all managed to evenly spread out the equipment and get a shared amount of shots and footage for the project. The shoot was successful as we achieved everything we set out to do, the main issue was weather related as it was extremely cold and the wind made it hard to get steady shots but we managed to capture steady shots at certain times when the wind died down.

We set off just after 9:30 and arrived back at CCAD at around 5:00. We imported all of the footage of the SD cards and on to the edit suite and had a quick look through some of out shots to see the quality and how they turned out. The next day we spent in the edit suites going through production logs and assessing the quality of each shot, we created a list of all the shots that we think are of the quality to feature in the promo and we started to edit a rough cut of certain shots together. Since the entire promo will only be 2-3 minutes long, we put together a 1:00- 1:15 length edit of some of our best shots for the online editor to review and see what shots work best.
